Nest of Emptiness

It has finally happened.  After 29 years of having babies, children, youths, teenagers and young adults in our home... there are now none.

We must now set about the business of changing our lives.  We are not in the least excited. It is true they are nearby but this is surely the beginning of the end.  They are, in fact, the meaning of our lives so we are stuck in this bittersweet moment... without them.

It is truly a bad day in Blackrock.

An empty nest provides a moment of uneasy rest.
So take a deep breath and enjoy the solitude.
It is a time for new and unimagined discoveries.
The world awaits your awakening.

No there is a sobering thought Charlie! I am not sure if the world is ready for me to wake up... especially at this late date!

Thank you for your comment, and insight.

You're welcome. The awakening I mentioned should be interpreted as a "new beginning". The empty nest provides such an opportunity.

Tom, as one who has had to get used to it, you'll find that even if they're not under your roof, they're always in your heart. And when they do come home, and they will, it's that much sweeter. Besides, now you and Julieann and Mollie can run through the house neckid as jaybirds!

Thank you for the encouraging words Chuck. Of course Molly has been running around "neckid" her whole life. Now Julie and I will have to learn from her.
